Spotify launches Greenroom, a social audio app

Spotify launches Greenroom which is a social audio app for both Android and iOS users. This new app by Spitify is very  similar to Clubhouse, allows users to host live conversations about sports, music, and culture.

Clubhouse is an invitation-only social media app for iOS and Android where users can communicate in voice chat rooms that accommodate groups of thousands of people. The audio-only app hosts live discussions, with opportunities to participate through speaking and listening.

The New Greenroom will therefore be a good rival to Clubhouse. The Spotify Greenroom app is based on Locker Room by  Betty Labs which Spotify acquired on March 2021.

Users can sign up with their Spotify account to the Greenroom app and the initial signup flow will also allow users to select their interests from a wider range of topics, like music genres and sports teams.

And what’s great is that users can get rewards for the contents they shared via the Greenroom Creator Fund. The Creator Fund is a way to get rewarded for the content you create and the community you build on Greenroom. The Fund is open for registrations now, and will go live and begin payouts later this summer.

Currently, finding audio programs to listen to relies primarily on users joining groups inside the app. Also, Spotify aims at using Greenroom to leverage Spotify’s personalization technology to better connect users to content they would want to hear.

You can download The Spotify Greenroom for Android from here. iOS users can get it from the App Store via this link.
